"Voted Funniest Movie of All Time by the American Film Institute, Billy Wilder’s Some Like It Hot is a milestone of film comedy. Its originality and wit, combined with a sense of danger has rarely been duplicated and, in the history of cinema, never equalled. In a story of increasingly wild absurdity, it follows the antics of two idiot musicians (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon) who, after witnessing the St Valentine's Day Massacre, struggle to escape the gangsters by dressing up in drag and joining an all-girl band (a band fronted by Marilyn Monroe in arguably her finest screen performance). Comic complications aplenty ensue when Tony Curtis - now a pouting girlie - strives to express his lust for Marilyn, while Jack Lemmon - equally high-voiced and simpering - is being pursued by an amorous Joe E Brown, who has one of the funniest - and most radical - final punch-lines in screen comedy. This expanded edition comprises; the original 1959 jazz soundtrack, with all of Marilyn’s songs from the film, supplemented, for the first time, with the Marilyn Monroe non-album single Some Like It Hot, jazz guitarist Barney Kessel’s album of themes from the film and three vocal takes by the great Jack Lemmon."
